J. Crew - September (III)

The other evening I made way downtown lured by the Fashion Night's Out. The event itself was quite low key downtown Vancouver. The JC store was offering various little gifts with purchase of $100 minimum. Banana Republic had a $250 gift card giveaway to one lucky winner. At the JC store I wanted to see what would look good with the No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Double-Serge Wool size 2 and 'crimson maple' which I ordered during the earlier promo. I first tried the Multistripe Long-Sleeve Boatneck Tee in size S and 'red current lilac." This top is currently on sale but I didn't like the fibre content so I will pass on it. The shoes are the Mona Patent Leather Pumps size 81/2, or half a size larger than my usual shoe size. The half size larger fit well for me.

Next I tried it with the Tippi Sweater in Colorblock Stripe size S. Not too bad, but this sweater is quite sheer, unfortunately. This sweater is also on sale currently.

One more sweater, this time the Tippi Sweater in Dot also size S and 'navy burgundy. The burgundy is close to that of the skirt, but not a perfect match. See the 'grey azalea' version of this sweater here.

Lastly, an older photo of the No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Double-Serge Wool in 'heather acorn' and the Tortoise-Button Sweatshirt in Stripe size S and 'navy red.' I liked this skirt and hope to get it too, as it's a great basic colour to have. See it on CC here.

And here are some of the bags in the local store:

Top row left to right:  Biennial Medium Satchel, Edie Purse
Bottom shelf left to right: new bag not yet on the website, Biennial Hobo, Brompton Hobo

I apologize for not checking the tag on the orange bag. It's not one I would probably go for since it's so bright.

Hope your weekend has started well and as always, thanks for reading!

  1. As always you look great! Funny they don't have a perfect match! I really like that striped Tippi. The sheerness is not great, since I would want to wear it well into the fall. I am pretty shopped out right now, so will likely hold off till next month, when I pick up a coat!

  2. Thanks for the reviews. I went to J Crew on Fashion's Night out too, and nothing really captured my attention except for the double cloth pink coat. The pencil skirts really look nice on you!

  4. I did order the burgundy skirt from J.Crew. I have a burgundy shirt from a couple of years ago and I've worn it with nudes and also various shades of blue. I like the color so I'll have fun styling it.

The new handbag looks a lot like the Lexi clutch/tote that was reviewed by A Bigger Closet. I have this bag and find it really handy as both a tote and a crossbody bag. Also shown HERE in metallic.

  5. Oh, I just noticed that ABC doesn't show the tote handles, you can see them in this Polyvore pic.

  6. BTW, if anyone cares, the smaller, metallic version doesn't have the tote handles.

Now I'll be quiet for a while.

    1. Thanks for the recap, xoxo. I think this is a different Lexi - it doesn't fold quite in half, if you know what I mean, but it's very similar.

  7. I love the color of crimson maple on the pencil skirt. Think I'm going to either get that or heather acorn. They are the best colors for the fall/winter. Thanks for the reviews!
