J. Crew New Arrivals & Reviews

The skirt section is invariably the first section I check each rollout. During the summer I prefer to wear skirts, mainly, so I was happy to see quite a few longer options.

First was the High-Waisted Denim Pencil Skirt in Sunwhite Wash. This seems pretty, but I would have to try it in person. Searching other retailers, I noticed there were quite a few options available. Where were they last year, I wonder? I was looking for a denim skirt and minis was all I could find.

A new No. 2 Pencil Skirt, but this time in Terazzo Tweed. It's cotton/linen, so it would be great during the summer -- all 3 weeks of it. :)

Another denim skirt is the High-Waisted Pencil Skirt in Garment-Dyed Denim. This one comes in 'shallow sea' and 'light citron.' I'd like the yellow, please.

Linen Cable-Knit Sweater. I had the chance to try this one on already in size S and cerise colour. Loved it.

Cashmere Boatneck Sweater in Multistripe. It has some of my favourite colours, but it's a bit pricey. Would go nicely with the white skirt at the top of the post.

Since we are talking sweaters, I also like this one as well: Metallic Swing Sweater.

The Colorblock Stripe Boatneck Tee has been in stores for a while, and I got the chance to try it on as well. It's not as sheer as the Colorblocked Striped Tee I blogged about here before. This the 'neon pink chalkboard' and like the name says, it's neon. It doesn't look as bright on the website, but it is.

And lastly, I had to have some fun with the Cafe Capri in Fresco Floral Sateen. They fit TTS (these are size 2) and I can see myself wearing these on a tropical vacation, if they cost about a 6th of the current price. The jacket is the Jean Jacket in Vintage Sea Blue Wash. I forgot to take a photo of the tag, but I remember sizing up to a medium in this jacket. The shoulders seemed quite narrow for me. Ask Customer Service for measurements before ordering to make sure.

I have a few odds and ends and the factory pics for a post very soon.

Did you check out the new arrivals? What are your picks?

Have a great Friday, everyone!

  2. You know I didn't really like any of it, I thought it was all really samey.

  3. While I adore all the neon-y hues all the retailers are doing right now, I am scared to invest too heavily in it. I'm scared I will delve into the "too young" and "too trendy" territory. That said, the colorblock stripe boatneck is an item I have my eye on ...

  4. I posted my picks yesterday and there weren't many. I liked the look of that linen/cotton pencil but zooming in it looked like it could be snag-prone. Like to see a review. I picked up a couple of the linen sweaters and they are nice. J.Crew does these really well IMO.

All those printed pants! I predict we will see them in the sale section once people buy and then return because they just don't work IRL. Maybe I'm wrong. We shall see.

  5. I always head straight for the sweaters in a rollout, no matter what the season. I have my eye on the linen cable knit in that pretty orchid blue, and the striped boatneck cashmere looks gorgeous on the model, are the colors pretty irl, or garish? I always wonder when it's labeled neon.
I'm also loving those longer pencil skirts, that's an elegant look.

  6. Well, you know I head straight to the Shirts and Tops section ;) Love the skirt options, but will prolly have to order the petite sizes to try on. What a pain that JC doesn't carry the petite sizes in store. Love your picks. I had to turn away from that floral print. Looks like the cushions on my mom's couch.

  8. Haha, tiffany rose, can't wait to see you model them! :)

    Yeah, pretty much, T.!

I agree, Lisa. One neon item is all I could have. A belt, or a tee, but that's about it. We know this will pass soon.

xoxo, I will have to check that skirt next week some time. I agree, and I doubt we shall see any paisley ones on the streets either. Wait until I model the factory paisley pants! :D

Sue, sweaters is my second stop in any rollout. I also like the longer skirt look. Wish I hadn't given them all away now.

CC: yes, we all know that. :D I agree, it must be hard to shop when you cannot try things on.

Tammy, I can't wait for spring either.

  9. Did you try on the Metallic Swing Sweater? I wear a Small in J. Crew sweaters, except the Jackie pullover (needed a Medium to not look odd), but I want to wear this very drapey and I have a long torso. Any advice is appreciated!
