J. Crew - February (IV)

New arrivals were in the J. Crew store last weekend and I was there to check some out. One that looked cute on the hanger was the Tweed-Stripe Drop-Waist Dress size 4. A poly/cotton mix, it fits TTS and falls above the knee on me (I am 5'6").

Next was the Boy Shirt in Jet-Set Geo size 4, my most common size in shirts at J. Crew. The shirt is made of the beautiful cotton & silk fabric J. Crew uses for some of their shirts. It's much prettier in real life than in the website photo, I think. The skirt is the Pleated Midi Skirt in Metallic Voile size 2. I am usually size 2 in pencil skirt at J Crew and 4 in this type of skirts. However, this one has an elastic waist, so it is more forgiving. The fabric is a very light cotton with metallic throughout. The sandals are the Marlow Mules in 'seashore beige' and they fit TTS. They are very comfortable on my feet. There is also a 'navy' version that look great as well.

I also tried the Mirror Metallic d'Orsay Loafer Flats size 8 1/2. I grabbed these off the display, but they are half a size larger than I normally wear in most J. Crew shoes and they do fit large.

And lastly for now, the Collection Chiffon Fringe Sweater size S and 'wheat' colour. It fits quite boxy and could probably size down one size for a more fitted look. The yarn is all cotton so it feels great on. The fringes are fun, but a few pieces fell off while I was trying the sweater on.

That's all for now, but have a few more photos for a future post. What do you like at J. Crew right now?

Hope you are having a great weekend, and thanks for visiting my blog!

Madwell New Arrivals Picks

This morning I received an e-mail from Madewell about their new arrivals and I couldn't wait until this evening to check them out. My first look was in the accessories section where I am always searching for new scarves. I have always loved the Madewell scarves, and this roll-out did not disappoint. The Silk Woodcut Diamond Scarf has some beautiful colours through it and I love it.

The Stockholm Satchel in 'mink' looks like a great neutral colour for spring.

A cute sweater, the Drawcord Pullover Sweater in cotton and linen in a marled pattern:

The Warren Sandal in 'english saddle' looks quite sturdy and is a great summer colour.

Silk Two-Piece Dress in Woodcut Paisley has an interesting cutout at the back which gives the impression of a two-piece

Lastly, my two favourite pieces: the Geo-Lace Eyelet Tank is all cotton and as the name implies, has a geo print pattern:

The Geo-Lace Eyelet Skirt is the matching skirt to the top above and together they can pass for a dress, in my opinion, provided they are worn with a wide belt.

These are my Madewell favourites. Which ones are yours? Please share!

Hope your week is going well so far, and have a safe Wednesday out there!

I took this photo for another project I was working on and thought I'd post it here as well. I got this dress at the end of the season a couple of years ago, I believe, and unfortunately, it hasn't received enough attention. I am determined to change that. :) This is the Origami Dress from J. Crew, by the way, and you may have seen it here or here before. I wore it here with the Everly Suede Pumps, also from J. Crew.
