Madewell New Arrivals Picks

New items were posted on the Madewell website today and I had to take a quick browse. The sales assistant told me yesterday they would be on the store floor tomorrow, for anyone anxious to check them out in person. 

A favourite for a lot of ladies will be the Silk Dot Skirt, I am guessing. Polka dots have been quite popular in the last couple of years, and they seem to be here to stay for at least another summer.

The Long Tee Skirt seems like a nice, comfortable skirt for those hot summer days. I believe this may have been from the last month roll-out, as it is already on sale:

Silk Cargo Tank comes in five different colours, including a pretty orange called 'neon persimmon:'

Blue Bud Jacket reminds me of the Indigo Floral Quilted Jacket from J. Crew which I blogged about  here before. The 'blue bud' motif can be also found on a cardigan as well as on a skirt, if you prefer.

I own quite a few Madewell jewelry pieces and love them all. The Bluestone Necklace looks interesting:

J.Crew - May (III)

On my last visit at J. Crew I was able to finally try on a couple of sweaters which have just arrived. One of them was the Collection Texture-Stripe Sweater size S. The texture of the knit was achieved by using different kinds of yarns. The sweater label reads cotton 62%/nylon 15%/linen 13%/polyester 10%, for those interested. I liked the fit and the feel of this sweater quite a bit.

The other sweater I have liked since its appearance on the website has been the Jeweled Medallion Sweater also size S. The sweater is cotton 63%/linen 20%/nylon 17%. It is a boxy sweater and I liked it a lot as well.

I also tried a new top style # 01237 size 2. The colour is called VBU ('vintage burgundy,' perhaps?). It comes in an orange, white and navy version as well. The embroidery on the upper front is gorgeous.

Banana Republic - May

I visited Banana Republic last weekend and checked out some of the new arrivals I picked in this post. One of them was the Multi Stripe Patio Dress size S. Unfortunately I picked this in the Petite section by accident. The Petite S I am wearing is a bit shorter than it would be intended.

Next was the Soft-Wash Striped Linen-Cotton Shirt size 4 and 'tanzanite gem.' There is also a green stripe version called 'jade.' It is slightly tight across the chest on me. The shirt has very fine blue and white stripes and looks great on close-up. I liked this one a lot. I cannot find the stripe ponte skirt size 2 online. It has a side zip and two side slits and it's very comfortable.

The Chambray Tie-Front Wide Leg Pants size 4 are a great fit and should be cool to wear in the summer. I am usually either size 2 or 4 in BR pants.

Lastly, the Sloan Fit Slim Ankle Pants size 2 and 'mythic blue.' These pants come in seven other colours. They fit similarly to the Minnie Pants in Stretch Twill, in my opinion. Great pants for a casual look, I think.

J. Crew - May (II)

Last weekend I managed to take a look at some of the new items at JC. The popular Linen Tippi Whale Sweater size S, my usual sweater size. The embroidery is adorable and I didn't find the linen scratchy at all. The sweater is just a bit sheer, which you will notice in the photo below.

Next I tried it on with the Daisy Lace Mini size 6. Usually I take size 2 or 4 in skirts, depending on the style. I sized up in this to pull it lower and wear it on the hips, but still no go. Too bad, as this is one I would have really liked to have this summer.

The Collection Featherweight Cashmere Tippi Sweater in Colorblock Stripe size S is from the previous roll-out but I only noticed it recently in our store. I liked the colorblocking of the stripes:

Lastly, the Linen Baseball Sweater size S again. The yarn for the sleeves is linen/poly 60/40, while the yarn for the body (white part) is linen/viscose/nylon 49/37/14. It felt cool on, so it should be nice to wear in the summer.
