Old Navy Vests

As I mentioned in a previous post, my work attire is much more casual these days, so I am on the look-out for such pieces. Jeans seem to be the obvious choice, but it seems my uniform these days is Pixie Pants, a long shirt, a vest and flat shoes. Soon enough I will be digging out my Minnie Pants in Bi-Stretch Wool and longer sweaters.

So when I started searching for cute vests, I came across a couple of cute ones from Old Navy. They are very well priced, and this weekend the store offered 30% off all items in the store, so I got a couple of them. The first one was the Quilted Zip Vest (size S, red check). I have been wanting something in the buffalo check for a while and this one fit the bill.

One way I will be wearing this outfit is:

The other vest I got was the Quilted Zip-Front Vest (size S, darkest hour). This vest also comes in 'canvas' (off-white) and 'black.'

One way I will be styling will be as in the Polyvore set below. The shoes in the photo are Tod's, but mine are Ateliers and very similar. I couldn't find a photo of them anywhere since I got them on super clearance in the Miz Mooz  store in Vancouver. They are made in Portugal, hand-stitched and extremely comfortable.

J. Crew - September (IV)

Last week I took advantage of the latest sale at JC so I went to pick up the Pixie Pants I had set aside. It was a good opportunity to look through the latest arrivals. One item which I had already tried on the week before while I was in Baltimore, was the Excursion Quilted Vest in Buffalo Check. This time I tried on size S, my usual size in vests at JC, and it was a much better fit. The pants are the Pixie Pants (size 2, navy). I already have these in black and I like and wear them a lot. The shoes are the Georgie Suede Penny Loafers (size 8 1/2, cabernet). These shoes were on sale, and another 30% applied, so they came home with me as well. They are one half size larger than I normally wear in J. Crew shoes. I loved the colour and the comfortable feel of these shoes.

Next is the Jeweled Striped T-Shirt (size S, heather ash). The tee is a cotton/poly/vicose mix. The jewels are pretty and colourful, but quite heavy on the T-shirt material, in my opinion.

This season I have been liking JC's shirts a lot and even ended up getting a couple of them, both in vertical stripe. Here's another one that is on my wishlist as well. It is the Boy Shirt in Bold Stripe (size 4, white), all cotton. Size 4 is my usual JC shirt size.

Tweed Sweater-Jacket With Fringe Trim (size M, navy multi) is pretty and quite warm, as the yarn is all merino wool. Size M is one size larger than my usual size, but I didn't see size S in the store to coampare.

Lastly, my favourite piece, the Long-Sleeve Speckled Chiffon Dress (size 4, black). I grabbed size 4 by mistake, as I normally would fit better into size 6. The dress is made of silk and is very pretty, although too short on me (I am 5'6", for reference).

That was all the photos I took this time around, but I will end up downtown again for an appointment next weekend, so a JC visit is very likely. Have you been taking advantage of the recent sales at JC? If so, what did you get? Please share!

Hope your week has been going well so far and have a great weekend, everyone!

J. Crew - September (III)

Last week I was away in Baltimore and was nicely surprised to see how nice and warm the weather was there. To top it all, on Saturday it was a scorching (for me, anyway) 29 deg C. So it felt quite strange to try on winter clothes, such as the Excursion Quilted Vest in Buffalo Check (size M, navy ivory). I am usually a size S in this vest, but there wasn't a small size in sight. I expect this will sell quickly at JC, as the buffalo check is always a popular pattern. The skirt is the Wool Zip Pencil Skirt (size 4, pink), my skirt size at JC. I like my pencil skirts, and this is a favourite.

Another vest was the Plus Fleece Excursion Vest (size M, navy). This is again one size larger than I normally wear, but it seems size S was already sold out in the store, so it was a bit large on me. The fleece was a bit stiff, but hopefully it would soften a bit with wear.

Jeweled Crewneck Sweater (size S, navy) is all merino wool and felt soft on the skin. There is no need for jewelry when wearing this sweater, as the neckline is embellished with colourful stones. The sweater fits TTS on me.

My favourite for last, the Cobalt Leopard Sweater (size S, navy), with a new take on the kitty prints. The front panel is silky to the feel, but I forgot to check the fabric content on the label. The website only mentions merino wool as the content. If this print appeals to you, there is also the Silk Blouse in Cobalt Leopard, the Jacquard Scarf in Cobalt Leopard as well as the Perfect Shirt in Cobalt Leopard.  I tried on the perfect shirt but size 4, my usual shirt size was too tight across the chest on me, and I didn't have enought time to ask for a larger size. Maybe I will try it this weekend.

That's all for now. I also visited Madewell last weekend, so hope to post those photos soon as well.

Hope your week is winding down nicely and have a great weekend, everyone!
